Summer Call for Submissions

ModCloth, an online e-retailer of vintage and vintage-inspired clothing, is excited to announce its call for submissions for The Written Wardrobe, a new anthology of fashion writing. For The Written Wardrobe's inaugural issue, ModCloth is interested in poetry and prose that explores all the ways in which fashion influences and affects our lives. They are not only interested in work that directly deals with clothing, shoes, and accessories, but also encourage various explorations and interpretations of the larger topic of “style.” ModCloth accepting poetry, fiction, and nonfiction submissions until August 1, 2010. A new literary magazine, New Stone Circle, has been produced in Chicago, and has published some of the same writers as our very own Oyez Review. If you're interested in checking it out, and submitting work, visit their website at: www.newstonecircle.org.

Members of a literary journal course at the University of Mary Washington, instructed by the 2006 winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry Claudia Emerson, are currently in the process of producing a professional online literary journal, and have selected humor as our focus. The 12th Annual Taos Summer Writers' Conference at the University of New Mexico will be held July 11-18 this summer! The 2010 faculty include Dorothy Allison, Joy Harjo, Debra Monroe, and Mark Sundeen, with a keynote speech by Cristina Garcia. The 24th annual Iowa Summer Writer Festival is now open for registration for their week-long and weekend workshop classes throughout June and July. 145 non-credit writing workshops across the genres are available. Summer Contests

The 2010 Litpop Awards Competition is now open!

The Pop Montreal International Music Festival and Matrix Magazine are looking for the most unique and original voices in literary voices in North America. Both poetry and prose winners will receive a round-trip ticket to Pop Montreal from Sept.29th through October 3rd, 2010, a VIP pass to the Pop Montreal Festival, free accommodation at a bed and breakfast, fall publication in Matrix Magazine with full honorarium, and presentation at a special Matrix Litpop event during the festival. The deadline for all submissions is June 19th 2010. Winners will be notified in August. Poets are asked to send no more than 5 poems; fiction writers should send stories of no more than 5000 words.
